About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform comprehensive behavioral health and substance use evaluations
  • Determine provisional diagnoses and discuss treatment recommendations with patients, families, and medical providers
  • Coordinate level-of-care expectations with physicians, care teams, patient care units, and external agencies
  • Conduct assessments remotely via telehealth and on-site at local hospitals and community sites
  • Provide assessment services across pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations as needed
  • Perform insurance prior authorizations/pre-certifications and support intake for admitted patients
  • Build and maintain relationships with referral sources across the assigned region through community outreach
  • Monitor referral trends and conversion patterns to improve access and service responsiveness
  • Resolve referral source concerns and complaints in partnership with leadership
  • Maintain proficiency in legal and regulatory processes relevant to assessment and admission, including EMTALA and Mental Inquest Warrants
  • Uphold HIPAA privacy and security requirements
  • Participate in department meetings and complete required trainings and competencies
  • Support continuous improvement and perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling/clinical psychology, marriage & family therapy, mental health counseling, or closely related field required
  • Minimum 2 years in a behavioral health setting, including assessment/diagnostic, crisis intervention, or closely related experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in clinical and/or community-facing environments
  • Experience developing relationships with community resources and referral partners preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) by American Heart Association required
  • Safe Crisis Management (SCM) training obtained within thirty days from date of hire
  • Reliable internet connection installed at home
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in the home setting for remote assessments
  • Knowledge of psychology, therapy and counseling principles, behavioral and affective disorders, crisis evaluation, and level-of-care determination
  • Service orientation, collaboration, and communication skills
  • Social perceptiveness, active listening, critical thinking, and problem sensitivity
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Capacity to learn EMR systems and telehealth programs
