About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate patient orders received from physician offices and internal ancillary departments
- Assure appropriate distribution of orders to servicing departments
- Review 100% of scheduled procedure orders for physician signature, test/procedure, date, and diagnosis accuracy
- Contact physician offices to clarify orders as needed and index orders to patient accounts
- Manage orders received by fax, physician EMR, or other sources and scan them into electronic medical records
- Answer and respond to external and internal phone calls
- Check and respond to emails in a timely and professional manner
- Meet or exceed productivity standards and complete daily assignments accurately
- Know procedure preparation times, locations, performing physicians, and special instructions
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers using the ADIET method
- Maintain an organized and efficient work area
- Transmit patient documents accurately and promptly
- Maintain job knowledge, professional conduct, confidentiality, and compliance with company policies and HIPAA requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- PC literacy
- Must be able to type 30 wpm with 95% accuracy
- At least one year of patient access preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Must be able to communicate effectively in verbal and written formats
- Proficient in EMR and Microsoft Office Suite
- Able to utilize appropriate computer systems for ICD-10 code lookup
- Ability to understand instructions and underlying principles
- Ability to reason and make sound judgments
- Must maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA privacy and security requirements
- Adherence to organizational and department-specific safety standards and guidelines
