About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead engineering strategy, architecture, and delivery of digital products and platforms supporting UPS.com and Web Shipping capabilities
- Own technical architecture, engineering roadmaps, and technology decisions for assigned products and platforms
- Lead software engineering teams delivering high-quality, reliable, and scalable solutions
- Partner with Product Managers to align technical execution with business objectives and customer outcomes
- Drive modernization initiatives, cloud adoption, API strategy, DevOps, CI/CD, and engineering best practices
- Ensure compliance with security, performance, scalability, and reliability standards
- Manage technical debt, engineering backlogs, and platform health
- Champion software quality through automated testing, monitoring, and production readiness practices
- Collaborate with architects, product managers, and engineering leaders to solve complex technical challenges
- Promote innovation, continuous improvement, and adoption of emerging technologies
- Develop and mentor engineers, fostering a high-performance and inclusive culture
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven experience leading software engineering teams in large-scale digital platforms
- Ten plus years of expertise in software architecture, cloud technologies, APIs, microservices, and DevOps practices
- Experience delivering customer-facing web and mobile applications
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience with Agile and Lean software development methodologies
- Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on technical leadership
- Preferred: experience with shipping technology, logistics, transportation, or e-commerce platforms
- Preferred: experience with customer-facing applications supporting shipment creation, tracking, profile management, payment, rating, and fulfillment experiences
- Preferred: experience with legacy modernization and platform transformation initiatives
