About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Complete assigned development work
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide leadership for design, development, configuration, testing, implementation, maintenance, and security of reporting and associated applications
Create and review data audits and quality processes to validate deliverables
Generate metrics and develop actionable recommendations
Serve as primary administrator for business intelligence application tools
Support research teams and management by collecting, analyzing, and reporting data
Lead administration of the Business Intelligence application, including upgrades, patching, configuration, and directory/security administration
Administer supporting infrastructure, including configuration, troubleshooting, and periodic maintenance
Develop strategies for data warehouse implementation, data acquisition, and archive recovery
Develop SQL queries and modifications for problem resolution and reporting
Lead report-development design sessions and development teams
Translate business requirements into secure report objects and ensure report specifications are met
Validate audit and reconciliation processes
Support security architecture, security administration, and workflow automation
Execute unit tests and collaborate on test plans, test data, and integrated unit testing
Design and deliver executive, functional, dashboard, and visualization reports
Develop reporting solutions that interact with cloud-based solutions
Write ad-hoc queries and reports using reporting/database tools
Analyze complex information from senior management and end users to develop reports and reporting systems
Maintain reporting-tool environments
Support communications outlets for reporting tools, including Upstate NY Tableau Users Group and Upstate NY IBM Cognos Users Group
Mentor staff and lead reporting training, seminars, courses, and instruction
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience required
Master's degree preferred
Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
Experience developing reports and dashboards with one or more Business Intelligence tools, such as PowerBI, Business Objects, MicroStrategy, Qlik, IBM Cognos, or Tableau
Experience in higher education, medical, or healthcare industry preferred
Experience with project management methodologies, including Agile, from planning through implementation preferred
5 years of Student, HCM & Finance experience, specifically with reporting, preferred
Experience in Oracle on Unix DBMS environment preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
Proven customer-oriented approach to problem solving required
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines required
Ability to contribute individually and as a technical lead while managing multiple business environments and translating business needs into solution requirements
Proficiency with IBM Cognos and Tableau preferred
Ability to learn new technologies quickly preferred
Knowledge of implementing expressions and business logic within an object-oriented environment preferred
In-depth experience and developmental knowledge with SQL programming preferred
Ability to provide on-call support as needed preferred
Certified Tableau Specialist preferred upon hire
Workday Report Writer curriculum certificate preferred upon hire
