About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage the use of the Medical Center’s on-campus research and medical education space resources
  • Analyze effective space utilization and project future space needs
  • Collaborate with Department Administrators and Health Sciences leadership to define scope and program descriptions
  • Serve as subject matter expert to the Director on space planning policy, master planning, space standards, and scenario development
  • Evaluate requests for renovation, relocation, expansion, or improved use of existing space
  • Prepare program documentation, reports, recommendations, planning programs, and conceptual plans
  • Evaluate, track, and resolve space requests; negotiate space agreements and coordinate departmental transactions
  • Support the Medical Center Space Committee and evaluate grant requests for space needs
  • Manage updates to the University-wide Medical Center space information system
  • Advise administrators on Medical Center space survey processes and training
  • Liaise with clients/users, architects, contractors, and project managers
  • Manage small Health Sciences Division and Medical Center senior leadership projects
  • Prepare projections of Health Sciences campus building needs based on departmental growth patterns and plans
  • Assist with integrated planning processes and facilities master plan development
  • Develop assessment mechanisms and space standards to improve research and medical education space utilization
  • Support the capital budget process and assist departments with facilities capital budget requests

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Major coursework in Architecture, Facilities Planning, Interior Design, Finance, or Strategic Planning preferred
  • 4 years of relevant healthcare or research lab planning experience required
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills preferred
  • Basic AutoCAD proficiency preferred
  • Intermediate Excel and PowerPoint proficiency preferred
  • Knowledge of evidence-based design preferred
  • Use of Bluebeam preferred
  • Experience with space management databases preferred
