About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Contact insurance companies regarding outstanding claim status
- Process and follow up on appeals to insurance companies
- Refile claims as needed
- Work correspondence daily
- Maintain basic spreadsheet proficiency
- Audit adjustment requests and complete them when appropriate
- Resolve manual accounts-receivable follow-up tasks
- Work outstanding accounts receivable from assigned work queues
- Meet department productivity standards
- Maintain an accuracy rating of at least 97% on audited accounts
- Maintain strict confidentiality
- Develop subject-matter expertise across multiple workflows and payers
- Identify and communicate trends to leadership
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school graduate or equivalent
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field preferred
- 1–3 years professional/healthcare experience preferred
- 1–3 years Accounts Receivable experience preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic math skills for calculating anesthesia units, reimbursement, and percentages for adjustments
- Understanding of medical terminology
- Advanced knowledge of insurance processing, guidelines, laws, and EOBs
- Knowledge of managed care, Medicare, and Medicaid guidelines
- High-accuracy data entry skills
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and ASA codes
- Problem-solving, decision-making, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills
- Ability to gather and report information
- Ability to work effectively with staff, physicians, and external customers
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently with limited supervision
- Self-motivated and goal-oriented
- Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and MS Teams
- Ability to meet the physical requirements, including occasional standing/walking, frequent sitting and hand/finger movement, and verbal/written communication
