About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Contact insurance companies for status updates on outstanding claims
- Process and follow up on appeals to insurance companies
- Refile claims as needed
- Work correspondence daily
- Use spreadsheets at a basic proficiency level
- Audit adjustment requests and complete them when appropriate
- Resolve Manual Tasks assigned to Accounts Receivable for follow-up
- Work outstanding accounts receivable from assigned work queues
- Meet department productivity standards
- Maintain an accuracy rating of 97% or greater on audited accounts
- Maintain strict confidentiality
- Become an SME across multiple workflows and various payers
- Identify and communicate trends to leadership
- Provide peer payer and system training support
- Gather data and report it in partnership with leadership
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school graduate or equivalent
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field preferred
- 1–3 years professional/healthcare experience preferred
- 3+ years Accounts Receivable experience preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic math skills for calculating anesthesia units, proper reimbursement, and percentages for adjustments
- Understanding of medical terminology
- Advanced knowledge of insurance processing, guidelines, laws, and EOBs
- Knowledge of managed care, Medicare, and Medicaid guidelines
- High-accuracy data entry skills
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and ASA codes
- Problem-solving, decision-making, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills
- Skill in gathering and reporting information
- Ability to work effectively with staff, physicians, and external customers
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently with limited supervision
- Self-motivated and goal-oriented
- Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and MS Teams
- Ability to communicate well with the public
- Ability to meet the role’s physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation
