About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead design and construction projects to US Foods specifications, including temperature-controlled distribution centers, retail stores, training and test kitchens, food processing facilities, and office space
- Manage project scope, budget, timeline, and performance specifications
- Lead collaboration among internal stakeholders and multidisciplinary consultants
- Assist with facility prototype/standards and Optimization Program development
- Support design and construction procurement methods and program/project management tools
- Contribute to departmental processes and tools
- Forecast and develop capital projects for internal stakeholders
- Develop project feasibility studies, goals, budgets, and schedules
- Identify project teams, responsibilities, execution approaches, consultants, and contractors
- Lead site planning, approvals, building design, design reviews, bid oversight, change order reviews, schedule and budget reviews, and construction quality checks
- Manage consultant and contractor payments, construction punch lists, and closeout activities
- Appraise consultant, contractor, and project team effectiveness
- Conduct post-project analysis
- Prepare project reports for senior management
- Work with other US Foods departments on cross-functional initiatives
- Engage in industry benchmarking and evaluate innovative practices
- Lead project team members without direct line reporting
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 10 years of experience in architecture design, construction management, or project management of industrial or distribution center projects
- Additional office project experience is a plus
- Strong analytical and financial acumen skills
- Effective spoken and written communication skills
- Leadership skills, including setting expectations, delegating responsibility, and empowering team members
- Aesthetic sensitivity related to architectural design, landscape design, and branding integration
- Strong attention to detail
- Quality orientation
- Strategic thinking and willingness to embrace new technologies
- Strong collaboration skills
- Strong technical skills in program/project management, building design, and general construction
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Windows; Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, Office 365 and SharePoint; Visio; AutoCAD or TruView
- Willingness and ability to travel at least 25% and up to 50% overnight to construction sites
- Bachelor degree or equivalent in architecture, civil engineering, construction management, or project management required
