About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure a warehouse culture focused on people, safety, service, and cost.
- Manage personnel and drive efficient warehouse operations through warehouse associates.
- Ensure safe, accurate, and timely receiving and storage of inbound product or selection and loading of outbound product.
- Champion safety procedures, processes, and training.
- Oversee and develop warehouse associates through coaching, training, problem resolution, and leading by example.
- Discuss associate performance with Sr. Warehouse Managers and create plans to address gaps.
- Direct workforce to ensure efficient workflow and maintain open communication.
- Supervise associate work and productivity, drive engagement and retention, and promote US Foods values.
- Interview and hire warehouse personnel with Sr. Warehouse Managers.
- Review performance, coach on productivity and safety targets, and deliver disciplinary action.
- Lead associates to achieve accurate orders staged and loaded on trucks.
- Prepare the warehouse for shipping or receiving on the next shift.
- Monitor mis-picks and productivity reports and take corrective action through coaching and counseling.
- Designate dock locations for inbound carriers on day shift.
- Ensure product is stocked according to food safety and FIFO processes and procedures.
- Monitor replenishment activity, oversee will call, and minimize potential shorts.
- Maintain the physical condition and safety of the warehouse and equipment.
- Prepare work orders for repairs and requisitions for equipment.
- Identify sources of inventory shrink and develop action plans.
- Analyze operations and recommend improvements to expense and cost control.
- Inspect the facility for safety hazards and resolve or report them.
- Ensure Master Sanitation Schedule and FSQA requirements are followed.
- Schedule working shifts using planning tools such as Microsoft Excel.
- Perform other duties assigned by the manager.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of three years of experience in warehouse distribution required.
- Minimum of one year of experience overseeing a workforce required.
- Broad knowledge of warehouse operations, methods and procedures.
- Strong leadership, communication and people development skills.
- Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, HACCP and other regulatory requirements.
- Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
- Basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office).
- 10% travel required, typically for mandatory meetings and/or training.
- High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
- HACCP certification a plus.
- PCQI certification a plus.
- Ability to perform the specified physical activities and lifting/carrying requirements.
- Ability to work in normal warehouse environments and cooler/freezer areas with temperatures as low as -5 degrees.
