About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage inventory levels for assigned items, suppliers, and/or categories across multiple distribution centers
  • Maintain service level and spoilage targets
  • Deliver forecast accuracy by SKU and/or product family
  • Collaborate with Logistics Operations, Produce Category Management, markets, and suppliers on supply chain opportunities
  • Deliver KPIs including service level, days inventory on hand, spoilage, and freight income
  • Review projected out-of-stock reports daily to support customer order fulfillment
  • Analyze economic order quantities, forecasts, lead times, vendor setup, and safety stock to create efficient purchase orders
  • Communicate with cross-functional partners about seasonal trends and business events
  • Drive profitability through accurate costs and supplier relationships
  • Coordinate with logistics on freight consolidation
  • Manage third-party logistics loads
  • Evaluate inbound volume and purchase history with warehouse operations
  • Execute forward-buy opportunities
  • Confirm purchase orders and vendor pricing
  • Resolve PO, invoice, costing, freight, and inventory discrepancies
  • Review cost exception, invoice cost, inventory revaluation, and PO timing reports
  • Set up new item cost attributes
  • Maintain freight information and rates using network strategy and replenishment data
  • Obtain transportation market data to update freight rates
  • Own demand forecasting based on forecast, inventory targets, replenishment lead time, and master data settings
  • Interpret and report forecast implications of item phase-ins and phase-outs
  • Perform responsibilities from a combined home-based and office-based environment, with onsite work 2 days per month

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 4 years of purchasing and/or related work in the procurement or logistics field
  • Produce experience preferred
  • Prior experience in a large, fast-paced foodservice purchasing and/or logistics environment strongly desired
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate with vendors and across cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of freight concepts and vendor pricing preferred
  • Ability to manage successful relationships with product and transportation providers/suppliers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook
  • PRISM and E3/AWR experience preferred
  • Must reside within one of the three specified areas: Lenexa, Kansas; Grand Island, North Dakota; or Omaha, Nebraska
