About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own and nurture customer relationships in a team-based selling model
  • Educate customers on ordering platforms and provide menu consultations, product recommendations, and pricing strategies
  • Sell to customers, increase case growth, and acquire new business
  • Deliver impactful sales presentations and tailor sales approaches to individual customers
  • Manage time and territory effectively
  • Collaborate with Specialists on top penetration opportunities and new account openings
  • Work with marketing, supply chain, and customer service to ensure seamless product delivery
  • Develop new business by identifying prospective customers through market intelligence databases, business directories, existing-client leads, organizations and clubs, trade shows, and conferences
  • Manage deliveries according to the transportation department’s routing schedule
  • Troubleshoot order-process problems, including delivery mis-picks, short loads, and stock-outs
  • Monitor market conditions, product innovations, and competitors’ products, prices, and sales
  • Share competitive and market information with customers as part of value-added services
  • Drive a personal motor vehicle for regular check-ins, site visits, and follow-ups
  • Work daily outside the office in the assigned territory and visit customers in variable weather and temperature conditions
  • Operate with no direct reports

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1+ year of sales experience preferred
  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • A valid driver’s license is required, and motor vehicle record must be in good standing
  • Foodservice industry sales—selling to restaurants experience preferred
  • Culinary/restaurant management/hospitality experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and presentation abilities
  • Ability to build internal and external relationships and cold call to develop new business
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
  • A competitive spirit with a drive to eed goals
  • Problem solving ability / organization and negotiation skills
  • Team up mentality to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Tech-savviness—proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM tools like Salesforce is a plus
  • Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 75 lbs.
