About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own and nurture customer relationships in a team-based selling model
  • Educate customers on ordering platforms and provide menu consultations, product recommendations, and pricing strategies
  • Sell to customers, increase case growth, and acquire new business
  • Deliver sales presentations and tailor sales approaches to individual customers
  • Manage time and territory effectively
  • Collaborate with Specialists on penetration opportunities and new account openings
  • Work with marketing, supply chain, and customer service to ensure seamless product delivery
  • Identify prospective customers using market intelligence databases, business directories, existing-client leads, organizations, clubs, trade shows, and conferences
  • Manage deliveries according to the transportation department’s routing schedule
  • Troubleshoot order-process issues, including delivery mis-picks, short loads, and stock-outs
  • Monitor market conditions, product innovations, competitors’ products, prices, and sales
  • Share competitive and product information with customers as a value-added service
  • Conduct regular customer check-ins, site visits, and follow-ups in the assigned territory
  • Work daily outside the office, visiting customers in variable weather and temperature conditions
  • No direct reports

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1+ year of sales experience preferred
  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license required, with motor vehicle record in good standing
  • Foodservice industry, culinary, restaurant management, or hospitality experience preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and presentation abilities
  • Ability to build internal and external relationships and cold call to develop new business
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Competitive spirit with a drive to exceed goals
  • Problem-solving, organization, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Salesforce or similar CRM tools is a plus
  • Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 75 lbs
  • Ability to drive a personal motor vehicle for regular check-ins, site visits, and follow-ups
