About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and manage established and new customers by selling food and non-food items to achieve sales and profitability goals
  • Own customer relationships in a team-based selling model
  • Sell and engage customers in value-added activities
  • Leverage resources for top penetration opportunities and new account openings
  • Manage deliveries according to the transportation department’s routing schedule
  • Troubleshoot order-process issues, including delivery mis-picks, short loads, and stock-outs
  • Communicate and collect accounts receivable with the credit department and clients
  • Develop new business and identify prospective customers through market intelligence databases, business directories, existing-client leads, organizations, clubs, trade shows, and conferences
  • Monitor market conditions, product innovations, competitor products, prices, and sales; share insights with customers
  • Drive to existing and prospective customers to ensure product delivery
  • Work frequently in the field visiting customers in variable weather and temperature conditions
  • Collaborate with internal departments, customers, vendors, and prospective customers
  • Operate without direct reports

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1+ year of sales experience preferred
  • Foodservice industry, culinary, restaurant management, or hospitality experience preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and presentation abilities
  • Ability to build internal and external relationships and cold call to develop new business
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Competitive spirit and results driven mentality
  • Problem solving, organization, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products
  • Customer relationship management tools experience preferred, such as Salesforce
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license required and motor vehicle record must be in good standing
  • Ability to drive and lift/carry up to 75 lbs
  • Ability to perform the listed physical activities and frequencies
