About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own and nurture customer relationships in a team-based selling model
  • Educate customers on ordering platforms and provide menu consultations, product recommendations and pricing strategies
  • Sell to customers, increase case growth and acquire new business
  • Deliver sales presentations and tailor sales approaches to individual customers
  • Manage time and territory effectively
  • Collaborate with Specialists on penetration opportunities and new accounts
  • Work with marketing, supply chain and customer service to ensure seamless product delivery
  • Identify prospective customers using market intelligence databases, business directories, existing-client leads, organizations, clubs, trade shows and conferences
  • Manage deliveries according to the transportation department’s routing schedule
  • Troubleshoot order-process issues such as delivery mis-picks, short loads and stock-outs
  • Monitor market conditions, product innovations, competitors’ products, prices and sales
  • Share competitive and market information with customers
  • Drive a personal motor vehicle for check-ins, site visits and follow-ups
  • Work daily outside the office in the assigned territory and visit customers in variable weather and temperature conditions
  • No direct reports

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1+ year of sales experience preferred
  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Motor vehicle record must be in good standing
  • Foodservice industry/culinary/restaurant management/hospitality experience preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and presentation abilities
  • Ability to build internal and external relationships and cold call to develop new business
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Competitive spirit with a drive to exceed goals
  • Problem solving ability, organization and negotiation skills
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM tools like Salesforce is a plus
  • Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 75 lbs.
