About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead safety procedures, processes, and training to maintain a safety-first warehouse culture
- Oversee, coach, train, and develop warehouse associates
- Coordinate workforce and communication to ensure efficient workflow
- Direct and supervise warehouse productivity, engagement, and retention
- Interview and hire warehouse personnel with Sr. Warehouse Managers
- Review performance, coach on productivity and safety targets, and deliver disciplinary action
- Lead associates to achieve accurate orders and oversee staging and truck loading
- Prepare the warehouse for shipping or receiving on the next shift
- Monitor mis-picks, productivity reports, rates, and preferred methods; correct behaviors through coaching and counseling
- Designate dock locations for inbound carriers on day shift
- Ensure product is stocked according to food safety and FIFO procedures
- Monitor replenishment activity and oversee will call
- Maintain warehouse and equipment condition and safety; prepare repair work orders and equipment requisitions
- Identify inventory shrink sources and develop action plans
- Analyze operations and recommend expense and cost-control improvements
- Inspect the facility for safety hazards and resolve or report them
- Ensure Master Sanitation Schedule and FSQA requirements are followed
- Schedule working shifts using planning tools such as Microsoft Excel
- Supervise union and/or non-union warehouse floor associates, including loaders, selectors, receivers, and forklift drivers
- Perform other duties assigned by the manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of three years of experience in warehouse distribution required
- Minimum of one year of experience overseeing a workforce required
- Broad knowledge of warehouse operations, methods and procedures
- Strong leadership, communication and people development skills
- Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, HACCP and other regulatory requirements
- Ability to interpret financial and operational data
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- 10% travel required, typically for mandatory meetings and/or training
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to work in warehouse, cooler, and freezer environments with temperatures as low as -5 degrees
- Ability to perform the listed physical activities and lifting/carrying requirements
- HACCP certification a plus
- PCQI certification a plus
