About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Curate and program the USA TODAY Entertainment homepage
- Craft app alerts featuring timely, relevant and high-performing content
- Create engaging social content, including video, reflecting USA TODAY’s voice
- Curate and/or write USA TODAY Entertainment newsletters
- Partner with reporters, editors and audience development teams to amplify coverage
- Identify promotional opportunities, including live events, comments and AMAs
- Execute the user-generated content strategy and package content for on-site and off-platform use
- Manage influencer outreach and partnerships as needed
- Assist with on-site content optimization for discoverability
- Experiment with emerging platforms and tools to accelerate audience growth
- Help with live coverage for breaking news and tentpole events
- Design a cohesive off-platform audience experience and develop repeatable growth strategies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3+ years of experience, preferably in a digitally-focused news organization
- Journalism experience or education is mandatory
- Entertainment-specific experience is mandatory
- Experience creating content optimized for social media, newsletters or search
- Experience with SEO, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok
- Commitment to detail, accuracy, fairness, journalistic ethics and best practices
- Ability to multitask and excel under deadline pressure
- Comfort using analytics tools such as Parse.ly, Google Analytics and Google Trends
- Expertise creating content on TikTok, YouTube and Instagram
- Experience with video editing tools, including in-app tools, Canva and Premiere
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Hootsuite, True Anthem and Echobox preferred
- Ability to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays, sometimes unexpectedly
