About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Investigate liability and apply appropriate coverage for moderately complex auto claims
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and settle auto claims
  • Negotiate liability for comparative negligence involving claimants or adverse carriers
  • Identify coverage concerns, review prior loss history, and create SIU referrals when appropriate
  • Gather information from police reports, recorded statements, witness statements, and multiple parties
  • Resolve claims through proactive problem solving and decision making within authority guidelines and under moderate supervision
  • Document damage evaluations, investigations, negotiations, and settlement decisions
  • Collaborate with internal and external business partners and set expectations to facilitate claims resolution
  • Support members, business partners, and claimants through varied communication channels and digital tools
  • Apply knowledge of P&C insurance products, policy contracts, coverages, and claims procedures
  • Apply intermediate knowledge of Auto Physical Damage to adjust claims
  • Support workload surges and catastrophe response operations, including mandatory on-call dates and potential evening, weekend, and holiday work
  • May travel for CAT deployments with minimal notice
  • Handle higher-complexity claims and additional work as assigned
  • Identify, measure, monitor, and control business risks in accordance with risk and compliance policies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
  • 1 year of customer service experience
  • Progressive experience handling low complexity auto non-injury liability claims
  • Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license within 90 days and 3 attempts
  • Developing knowledge and understanding of auto claims contracts, case law, and state laws and regulations
  • Demonstrated negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Proficiency in prioritizing and multi-tasking, including navigating multiple business applications
  • Successful completion of a job-related assessment may be required
  • One or more years of auto liability claims experience managing claims from initial contact through resolution
  • One year of experience managing a pending inventory with demonstrated organization and prioritization skills
  • Proven experience with comparative negligence and shared liability determinations
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with ability to interpret policy language, assess coverages, and make sound decisions
  • Proficiency with Guidewire or similar claims management systems
  • Bachelor's degree or industry designation (e.g., AIC, CPCU) is a plus
  • US military experience gained through military service or as a military spouse/domestic partner
  • Must not require immigration support or visa sponsorship, including H-1B, TN, or STEM OPT Training Plans
