About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage a team of individual contributors overseeing and managing the launch and maturation of new products in strategic markets
- Serve as a cross-functional expert and provide leadership, product expertise and support for product development, compliance, operational and process improvements, claims management, vendor management, product documentation, fulfillment and system releases
- Develop digital-first products supporting USAA members' needs and risks
- Oversee development and launch of innovative product offerings and enhanced features/services for existing products
- Develop recommendations for launching new products and decisions to buy, build or ally
- Generate product and coverage solutions for member needs
- Maintain knowledge of business and underwriting performance for products in scope
- Manage post-launch maintenance and underwriting of new-in-market products based on performance, member needs and competitive changes
- Gather data and member information to formulate product strategy and acquire competitive intelligence
- Lead analysis of internal and external data and member information
- Develop and communicate product value propositions across teams and leadership levels
- Ensure sales support across distribution channels, including .com, mobile and contact center
- Direct analysis of product performance metrics and adapt offerings before full launch
- Coordinate with Legal, Compliance and Risk Management to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Coach and develop product development employees to drive performance and engagement
- Identify, measure, monitor and control business risks according to risk and compliance policies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or Statistics; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience
- 8 years relevant industry experience in Actuary, Underwriting, Marketing, or Operations, including direct product management experience
- 3 years of direct team lead or management experience
- Experience developing product strategies, product plans and product roadmaps
- Demonstrated experience developing, deploying and supporting product and/or integrated suite of products
- Knowledge and application of Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC)
- Experience leading an agile product development process and managing multiple products simultaneously
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with executives
- Strong P&C business acumen, preferably in Auto
- Experience designing innovative insurance product enhancements, preferably Auto
- Familiarity with telematics-based predictive models in a product application
- Demonstrated experience with data analytics and delivering insights
- Strong critical thinking skills to evaluate information, identify data gaps, and ensure validity of insights
- Experience translating business requirements to technical and analytical teams
- Experience developing complex business case analysis (BCA)
- Experience supporting product briefings and presenting to executive leadership
- Must not require immigration support or visa sponsorship now or in the future
- US military experience gained through military service or as a military spouse/domestic partner is listed as an additional qualification
