Key responsibilities & impact
  • Adjust non-attorney-involved soft tissue bodily injury claims and associated auto physical damage claims
  • Confirm coverage and make coverage decisions
  • Investigate loss details and determine legal liability
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and settle claims within authority guidelines
  • Document investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement decisions
  • Provide advice and set expectations regarding next steps to members
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve issues and identify matters for escalation
  • Partner with or direct vendors and internal business partners to facilitate timely claims resolution
  • Support workload surges and/or Catastrophe Operations as needed
  • Identify, measure, monitor, and control risks associated with business activities
  • Follow written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
  • 1 year of injury adjusting or auto liability adjusting experience, including highly complex vehicle physical damage such as multi-vehicle, non-owned vehicles, or total loss claims
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the auto claims contract and application of case and state laws and regulations
  • Acquisition and maintenance of an insurance adjuster license within 90 days and designated number of attempts
  • USAA does not provide visa sponsorship; applicants must not require immigration support now or in the future
  • Relocation assistance is not available
  • Preferred: 2+ years Auto Liability/Casualty adjusting experience including complex/multi-vehicle liability
  • Preferred: 1 year auto physical damage or total loss experience
  • Preferred: Ongoing professional development focused on Insurance
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • Preferred: US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner
