About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Price deferred fixed, indexed, and immediate annuities
  • Perform custom quoting of structured settlements
  • Analyze areas related to pricing and selling new business
  • Coordinate, prepare, and perform actuarial analyses for new products, future results, existing product repricing, and financial strength
  • Perform routine assignments using actuarial modeling software for pricing, valuation, and/or risk management
  • Compile data and provide analytical support, including entering data and tables, running models, and generating reports
  • Participate in recommendations for model adjustments and improvements
  • Resolve less complex issues independently and escalate appropriate issues
  • Prepare reports and identify and resolve data and reporting problems
  • Maintain price levels, price structures, data availability, models, and other requirements to achieve profitability and competitive goals
  • Monitor critical experience areas and identify unfavorable trends
  • Identify sources of gain and loss by product and assumption
  • Test assumptions and premiums, interest margins, reserves, and cash values for profitability and viability
  • Identify, measure, monitor, and control business risks in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience
  • Up to 2 years of relevant business or analytical experience
  • 2 Society of Actuaries exams completed
  • Understanding and experience applying data analysis and actuarial techniques
  • Experience with pricing annuities or life insurance using pricing software (AXIS, etc.)
  • Experience building analytical tools using applications such as Excel VBA, Python, SQL, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor content for varying audiences
  • Strong aptitude for problem solving
  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner
  • Must not require visa sponsorship or immigration support now or in the future
