About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop new products and oversee and manage the launch and maturation of new products into target strategic markets
- Act as a cross-functional expert supporting product development, compliance, operational and process improvements, claims management, vendor management, product documentation, fulfillment, and system releases
- Develop digital-first products supporting USAA member needs and risks
- Lead development and launch of innovative product offerings and enhanced features/services for existing products
- Maintain knowledge of business and underwriting performance for products in scope
- Monitor, maintain, and underwrite new-in-market products based on performance, member needs, and competitive changes
- Develop recommendations for launching new products and decide whether to buy, build, or ally for products
- Generate creative product and coverage solutions to maintain a dynamic product development pipeline
- Conduct complex analysis of internal and external data and member information to support product strategy and competitive intelligence
- Develop and communicate new product value propositions
- Ensure sales support across distribution channels, including web, mobile, and contact center
- Analyze and evaluate new product performance metrics and make changes before full launch when necessary
- Coordinate with Legal, Compliance, and Risk Management to ensure compliant product design and implementation
- Identify, measure, monitor, and control risks in accordance with risk and compliance policies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or Statistics; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience
- 8 years relevant experience in Actuary, Underwriting, Marketing, Operations, Financial Services or relevant military experience
- Extensive experience in developing, deploying and supporting product and/or integrated suite of products
- Experience working through agile product development process, managing multiple products simultaneously
- Knowledge and application of Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC)
- Hands-on experience in problem framing, qualitative and quantitative research, running product experiments, hypothesis testing and prototyping
- Ability to navigate ambiguous contexts with confidence
- Ability to break large complex initiatives into smaller manageable features and capabilities and deliver them early and often
- Strong P&C business acumen, preferably in Auto
- Experience designing innovative insurance product enhancements, preferably Auto
- Familiarity with telematics-based predictive models in a product application
- Demonstrated experience with data analytics and delivering insights
- Strong critical thinking skills to evaluate information, identify data gaps, and ensure validity of insights
- Skill in analyzing the entire product lifecycle and anticipating issues in pricing, underwriting, claims, or customer experience
- Experience translating business requirements to technical and analytical teams
- Experience developing complex business case analysis (BCA)
- Experience supporting product briefings and presenting to executive leadership
- US military experience gained through military service or as a military spouse/domestic partner
- Must not require immigration support or visa sponsorship now or in the future
