About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform actuarial analyses to develop new products, project future results, reprice existing products, and/or determine financial strength
  • Mentor junior team members
  • Evaluate and maintain policy benefits and fees on the inforce block
  • Collaborate with actuarial, product management, forecasting, risk, and finance business partners
  • Utilize actuarial modeling software-driven models for pricing, valuation, and/or risk management
  • Review laws and regulations for compliance and recommend process improvements
  • Monitor industry communications regarding potential changes to laws and regulations
  • Serve as a key resource for team members and leadership on escalated issues
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in key actuarial areas
  • Lead project teams through concept, planning, execution, and implementation phases
  • Develop exhibits and reports explaining proposals and findings
  • Present recommendations to leadership
  • Maintain proper price levels, price structures, data availability, and other requirements for profitability and competitiveness
  • Identify critical assumptions and recommend remedies for unfavorable trends
  • Test assumptions by identifying sources of gain and loss, premiums, interest margins, reserves, and cash values
  • Identify, measure, monitor, and control risks in accordance with risk and compliance policies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience
  • 6 years actuarial experience and attainment of Fellow within the Society of Actuaries; OR 12 years relevant actuarial experience and attainment of Associate within the Society of Actuaries
  • Subject Matter Expert in one or more key areas, such as Product Pricing, Reserving, Economic Capital, Modeling, Asset Liability Management, etc.
  • Experience leading a project team on complex assignments through concept, planning, execution, and implementation phases involving cross functional actuarial areas
  • Demonstrated experience preparing effective documentation, facilitating training and development, and presenting to various levels of management
  • Inforce pricing experience for life and/or annuity products
  • Experience with AXIS modeling software
  • Project leadership experience
  • Must not require immigration support or visa sponsorship now or in the future
