About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Investigate, negotiate, evaluate, and appraise vehicle damage claims for repairable and total-loss vehicles
  • Evaluate highly complex auto physical-damage claims using digital tools and applicable contracts, guidelines, laws, and regulations
  • Investigate claim damages and communicate with insureds, internal claims adjusters, third parties, and vendors
  • Review loss facts and vehicle damage for subrogation opportunities and maintain supporting documentation
  • Apply advanced knowledge of P&C insurance products, contracts, processes, and systems
  • Review claims and suppliers for fraud indicators and refer applicable cases to the Special Investigations Unit
  • Maintain accurate and current claim-file documentation
  • Manage desk productivity, follow-ups, repair plans, and repair timelines
  • Review additional damage from repair facilities, complete supplements, or triage inspections to field providers
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert for disputed claims or trials and support team members on escalated issues
  • Partner with vendors and internal business partners to resolve high-complexity claims
  • Coordinate with external regulators when needed to ensure documentation and compliance
  • Explain coverage, repair estimates, total-loss valuations, and claims or repair processes to policyholders
  • Support workload surges and catastrophe response operations, including mandatory on-call dates and possible evening, weekend, or holiday work
  • Travel with minimal notice for assigned catastrophe deployments
  • Handle higher-complexity claims and additional duties as assigned
  • Identify, measure, monitor, and control business risks according to risk and compliance policies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
  • 2 years of auto appraising experience
  • Proficient knowledge of P&C insurance policy contracts and coverages, auto parts distribution process and claim appraisal process and procedures
  • Advanced working knowledge of estimating losses using CCC or similar estimating platforms
  • Demonstrated written and verbal skills to communicate with members, claimants, repair facilities, and other internal and external stakeholders
  • Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license within 90 days and 3 attempts
  • May require a valid driver's license and compliance with USAA safe driving requirements
  • Active Texas or Florida All-Lines Adjusters License
  • I-CAR ProLevel 3 (Platinum) certification or actively pursuing ProLevel 3
  • Experience as a Field Auto Appraiser with a Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance carrier
  • Experience and ability to prepare estimates and evaluations using CCC estimating platform
  • Experience and ability to balance writing accurate collision repair estimates in a Virtual and Field environment
