About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and monitor the annual operating budget for the Department of Emergency Medicine, including TeamHealth/USF agreement funds
- Prepare financial projections, variance analyses, and cash-flow forecasts
- Identify spending trends and advise leadership on over/under allocations and budget or expenditure transfers
- Monitor expenditures and funding allocations for compliance with TeamHealth/USF agreement terms, University policy, and state/federal regulations
- Track positions funded under the agreement, reconcile related accounts, and support periodic reporting
- Reconcile E&G, Auxiliary, UMSA/USFF convenience, Carryforward, and related accounts monthly
- Prepare financial statements, cash-balance reports, and management-ready reporting packages
- Resolve discrepancies and maintain audit-ready financial records
- Support onboarding and compensation administration for newly recruited faculty
- Perform payroll and salary-funding analysis; advise on chartfields/combo codes; coordinate with HR and Payroll
- Review and process purchasing, travel, and accounts payable/receivable transactions
- Recommend and implement procedural and internal-control enhancements
- Serve as fiscal and budget liaison to faculty, staff, and central offices
- Advise faculty and staff on USF policies, procedures, and funding requirements
- Perform other duties assigned by the Associate Director of Fiscal and Business Management or department leadership
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or another field directly related to the position's specific responsibilities and 2–4 years of fiscal-related work experience; or bachelor's degree in any field and three years of fiscal-related work experience; or five years of fiscal-related work experience
- Demonstrated experience with budget development, account reconciliation, and financial reporting preferred
- Experience in a higher education or academic medicine fiscal environment preferred
- Experience with grant, contract, or agreement-based funding preferred
- Experience with USF financial systems such as FAST, GEMS/PeopleSoft, Finance Mart, Power BI, Archivum, or Bull Marketplace preferred
- Experience supporting a growing department or faculty group, including payroll/salary-funding analysis and onboarding-related fiscal setup preferred
- Must meet all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S.
