About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build, clean, and maintain large donor and campaign datasets in Excel
- Use pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, conditional formatting, and formulas to organize audience segments
- Set up and manage Excel-based A/B testing worksheets
- Split audience lists, track test variables, and summarize results for campaign review
- Build and maintain audience segmentation queries in Snowflake
- Assist in campaign data validation, including verifying donor records in Salesforce Ascend
- Investigate and troubleshoot data issues by analyzing query logic
- Document query logic and maintain clear, repeatable workflows
- Provide office support, customer service, data entry, and use standard office software and systems
- Attend occasional meetings and programs requiring some travel
Requirements
What you’ll need- Federal Work-Study students only
- Currently pursuing a degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
- Current UVA undergraduate or graduate student eligible for student employment and work study
- Strong, hands-on Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, lookup functions, and data formatting for large datasets
- Solid understanding of relational database concepts
- Ability to write SQL queries involving joins, CTEs, and conditional filtering
- Comfortable troubleshooting query results and explaining logic clearly
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks independently
- Resume and one academic reference required
- Minimum 10 hours and maximum 20 hours per week
- Work-study eligibility for the 2026–27 academic school year
