About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform direct clinical activities under the direction of the physician, Charge RN or Manager
  • Conduct patient intake, blood draws, pharmacy calls, EKGs and physician-required tests
  • Accurately document in an EMR system according to licensure and VMG policies and procedures
  • Maintain working relationships with practice staff to ensure proper workflow, care and treatment
  • Greet and register patients
  • Ensure insurance compliance and collect appropriate payment at time of service
  • Maintain the daily patient schedule
  • Answer incoming calls involving appointment scheduling, medication refills and clinical or billing inquiries
  • Coordinate with clinical staff regarding special needs and requirements
  • Ensure proper patient flow
  • Support the practice and professional staff as directed by the Practice Manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program recognized by the State of New Jersey
  • Current and valid certification as a certified medical assistant or registered medical assistant recognized by the Board of Examiners, such as AMT, AAMA, or NCCT
  • Completion of formal coursework in office management, database management or business
  • Six (6) months of previous customer service/data entry, administrative/office management/clerical experience required
  • Understanding of the operations of a medical practice preferred
  • BCLS certification preferred upon hire, will be required
  • Ability to use organizational and time management skills to set priorities and respond quickly to urgent/emergent situations
  • Strong oral, written and presentation communication skills
  • Ability to create, maintain and support a high functioning team and foster cooperative working relationships
  • Ability to listen and respond in a non-judgmental manner, with clear expectations
  • Ability to respect confidentiality of private healthcare, financial and company information
  • Ability to assume responsibility and accountability for job duties and organizational responsibilities
  • Position may require rotating to other VMG locations from time to time when necessary
