About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the professional coding function through data analysis, operational reporting, workflow optimization, and technology administration.
  • Develop and maintain coding performance dashboards.
  • Monitor key operational and financial metrics.
  • Provide actionable insights supporting decision-making, compliance oversight, and revenue cycle performance.
  • Analyze coding quality, productivity, denial trends, reimbursement outcomes, and payer policy changes.
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with coding leadership, billing teams, IT, vendors, and operational stakeholders.
  • Support workflow design.
  • Assist with vendor performance management, staffing and productivity benchmarking, technology evaluation, and optimization of coding automation and AI-assisted solutions.
  • Support accurate reimbursement, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and alignment of coding operations.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • CPC certification (AAPC) or other AAPC certification.
  • Minimum 5 years coding or revenue cycle experience.
  • Advanced Excel and reporting skills.
  • Experience with Athena or similar EHR systems.
  • Knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle operations, professional coding, reimbursement methodologies, and payer requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in developing reports, dashboards, and performance metrics.
  • Experience utilizing electronic health records (EHRs), coding and encoder software, practice management systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to evaluate workflows, monitor vendor performance, and support process optimization, technology enhancements, and automation initiatives.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and adapt to changing regulatory, operational, and technology requirements.
  • Preferred AAPC certifications include CPC, CPB, CPMA, and data analytics training or certification.
