About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide occupational and environmental health nursing services to employees and prospective employees across a variety of age groups
- Perform varied occupational health services and functions in accordance with licensure, certification, training and regulatory requirements
- Respond effectively to new and changing working environments
- Bear primary responsibility and accountability for occupational and environmental health nursing services delivered in the Employee Health Department
- Work the 8:00am–4:30pm day schedule
- Travel to and work at various locations throughout the day
- Collaborate with health system and multidisciplinary team members, including physicians, rehabilitation, respiratory, diagnostic imaging and laboratory teams
- Set priorities, solve problems and deliver care using effective time management
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing or graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelors Degree in a healthcare related field
- Evidence of continuing professional education
- Five years experience as a medical/surgical nurse, a portion of which should be in the outpatient setting
- Experience in occupational health preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software: Word, Excel, and Email
- Constant talking and listening in English
- Effective oral and written communication skills, including speech clarity, understanding the information relayed, deductive and inductive reasoning skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, pushing, pulling, walking, standing, sitting, reaching, filing, typing and photocopying
- Ability to function competently in stressful situations and changing work environments
- Ability to work cooperatively within the health system and with multidisciplinary team members
- Ability to utilize effective time management skills, set priorities, problem solve and deliver care
- Current Occupational Health Nurse Certification or OHNC Certification within 2 years of hire into the position
- CPR (BCLS) Certification with AED Certification
- Venipuncture
- Strong knowledge of Infection Control, Health & Wellness, Case Management and Medical Surveillance
- Strong knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety, federal, state and private agency workplace regulations, including OSHA, ADA, FMLA, STD/LTD, Drug and Alcohol testing, Respirator Fit testing, Employee Assistance Program, Travel Medicine, Disability Management, Workers Compensation and Fitness for Duty, within two years of employment
- Ability to travel to and work at various locations throughout the day
- Must be available to work flexible hours including all shifts/days
