About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide occupational and environmental health nursing services to employees and prospective employees across a variety of age groups
  • Perform varied occupational health services and functions in accordance with licensure, certification, training, and regulatory requirements
  • Respond effectively to new and changing working environments
  • Bear primary responsibility and accountability for occupational and environmental health nursing services received by employees in the Employee Health Department
  • Work the day shift, scheduled 8:00am–4:30pm
  • Travel to and work at various locations throughout the day
  • Collaborate with health system and multidisciplinary team members, including physicians, rehabilitation, respiratory, diagnostic imaging, and laboratory teams
  • Set priorities, solve problems, manage time effectively, and deliver care

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing or a Bachelors Degree in a healthcare related field
  • Evidence of continuing professional education
  • Five years experience as a medical/surgical nurse, a portion of which should be in the outpatient setting
  • Experience in occupational health preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software: Word, Excel, and Email
  • Physical requirements include a full range of body motion, including assisting patients, stretching, bending, lifting, sitting, kneeling, stooping, standing, walking, pushing and pulling
  • Position classified as Very Heavy Work, exerting in excess of 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly
  • Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Constant talking and listening in English
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, speech clarity, understanding relayed information, deductive and inductive reasoning
  • Considerable walking, standing, sitting, reaching, filing, typing and photocopying
  • Ability to work accurately, pay attention to details, and change tasks without loss of efficiency or composure
  • Ability to function competently in stressful situations and changing work environments
  • Ability to work cooperatively with health system and multidisciplinary team members
  • Effective time management, prioritization, problem solving, and care delivery skills
  • Current Occupational Health Nurse Certification or OHNC Certification within 2 years of hire
  • CPR (BCLS) Certification with AED Certification
  • Venipuncture
  • Strong knowledge of Infection Control, Health & Wellness, Case Management, and Medical Surveillance
  • Strong knowledge within two years of employment of Occupational Health and Safety; OSHA, ADA, FMLA, STD/LTD, drug and alcohol testing, respirator fit testing, Employee Assistance Program, Travel Medicine, Disability Management, Workers Compensation, and Fitness for Duty requirements
  • Ability to travel to and work at various locations throughout the day
  • Must be available to work flexible hours including all shifts/days
