About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Move product to maintain appropriate flow through production areas.
- Receive, issue and physically move material efficiently and timely.
- Provide accurate and timely documentation of material and product movement.
- Maintain accuracy of the computer inventory system and physical location and organization of inventory.
- Interpret production plans and shipping orders to provide required material handling and shipping.
- Complete regular cycle counts under accounting guidelines and ensure accuracy in IFS.
- Deliver on-time product without errors.
- Use forklifts and overhead cranes to load, unload and move materials and products.
- Regularly assess and update priorities to prevent lapses in production.
- Complete daily TPM forklift inspections.
- Perform other duties as directed by leaders and management.
- Participate in department safety and follow Valmont safety policies and procedures.
Requirements
What you’ll need- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year experience in a heavy manufacturing environment is desired.
- Prior forklift and overhead crane experience.
- Ability to prioritize work in order to complete deadlines.
- Basic computer knowledge and an understanding of job-related programs.
- Must work the 4th shift (Friday to Sunday, 5am–5pm) or 5th shift (Friday to Sunday, 5pm–5am).
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors during all seasons.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms and frequently use hands and fingers at the keyboard.
- Ability to get on and off heavy machinery.
- Ability to occasionally bend or twist.
- Ability to occasionally lift, pull or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
- An Associate’s degree in manufacturing related field is highly qualified/preferred.
