About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Load and unload products safely and accurately according to Valmont procedures and work instructions
- Identify material by part number, description, quantity, and quality
- Gather customer orders and stage them by stop schedule on consolidation cards
- Update consolidation cards for shortages
- Handle workload from assembly and finishing areas
- Use the IFS system to complete finished-goods transactions
- Use ship papers and identification markers to identify products for loading
- Stage and transport products using straddle trucks, forklifts, and straddle buggies
- Operate overhead cranes to move pole products between bolsters
- Perform general housekeeping, including sweeping, painting, operating powered sweepers, and mopping
- Dispose of wood dunnage safely and maintain awareness of tripping hazards
- Bolster products returning to the yard or internal customers
- Communicate with the next shipper to ensure proper loading of each consolidation
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Ability to perform basic math: add, subtract, decimals and fractions
- 6 months previous experience operating heavy equipment in a professional environment
- Become proficient in operating a straddle truck and shag truck
- Knowledge of computer systems
- 1-year experience in a manufacturing setting (highly qualified)
- 1-year experience operating heavy equipment (highly qualified)
- 1-year experience operating an overhead crane (highly qualified)
- 1-year experience utilizing IFS system (highly qualified)
- Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
- Ability to wear required PPE, including hand, hearing, foot, eye, and head protection
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. continuously and perform standing, bending, walking, climbing, and unusual-position work
