About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the review and evaluation of applications received by Vanderbilt University’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions
  • Fully evaluate all components of first-year applications from initial intake to final assessment
  • Evaluate transfer applications
  • Become an expert in 3–4 domestic territories and/or 1–2 international territories
  • Understand transcripts, class rank practices, grading trends, class titling, extracurricular offerings, research opportunities, and regional awards in assigned territories
  • Understand file volumes and deadlines throughout the season and adjust work priorities as needed
  • Read and understand manuals for bluesheeting, assessment, and evaluation of first-year and transfer applicants
  • Maintain frequent communication with Admissions Officers regarding file volume, trends, and file corrections
  • Conduct paired reading evaluations with Admissions Officers
  • Attend weekly meetings
  • Maintain confidentiality

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education, or the equivalent in experience, is necessary.
  • At least two years’ experience working in an education setting (High School or higher education preferred)
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict, stated deadlines
  • Competence and comfort with entering data into web-based forms
  • Solid knowledge of technology and ability to work independently using that technology
  • Strong analytical and data analysis skills
  • Strong basic math skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel is preferred
  • Ability to understand and maintain strict confidentiality of admissions processes and application data
  • Must be able to use a private home office to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate within a team
  • Ability to manage time constraints and reading goals set by management team
  • Access to a high-speed internet connection is required
