About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate all aspects of the backstage area
- Build relationships with dancers, teachers, studio directors, prop handlers, and attendees
- Assist with event set-up and breakdown, including laying a Marley floor, hanging a backdrop, lighting, awards areas, and backstage organization
- Welcome and assist dancers, studio directors, teachers, and other attendees throughout the event
- Maintain organization and communication between backstage areas, dressing rooms, prop handlers, and event directors
- Check in dancers backstage and ensure they are prepared to perform on time
- Keep backstage areas safe, clean, and free of debris or unnecessary traffic
- Communicate with event directors and studios to support smooth transitions
- Use iPad software, headset, and Slack for team communication
- Prepare physical awards and organize awards table paperwork, including labeling and bagging awards, pins, medals, trophies, plaques, and related materials
- Distribute awards onstage during awards ceremonies
- Restock and organize awards stations and backstage supplies
- Assist with inventory tracking and reporting for event materials and supplies
- Attend mandatory trainings and team meetings
- Follow company policies and procedures and perform additional duties assigned by the event director
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be 18 years or older
- Ability to work long event days (8–16 hours)
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift 30–50 lbs (event equipment, merchandise bins, staging materials)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work weekends (Thursday–Monday) and travel from January–June
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Comfortable working in loud, dynamic and fast-paced environments
- Flexibility and adaptability in responding to shifting event needs
- HS Diploma or GED (required)
- Previous event dance industry experience preferred but not required
