About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Make credit decisions within the authorized credit limit
  • Prepare detailed credit analyses and recommendations for transactions exceeding the Analyst's credit limit
  • Perform underwriting analysis of borrowers’ character, creditworthiness, and financial condition
  • Provide direction on transaction structure, terms, conditions, security, and covenant recommendations
  • Conduct research, financial analysis, and statistical analysis to assess creditworthiness and minimize risk exposure
  • Spread and analyze business financial statements and/or tax returns
  • Analyze commercial and consumer credit bureau scores
  • Ensure compliance with corporate credit policies and procedures
  • Interact with the senior leadership team
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and propose creative solutions
  • Analyze causes and cures for delinquency
  • Monitor market changes and industry issues
  • Complete ad hoc requests as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Business Credit underwriting and risk management in a financial services environment
  • Relevant post-secondary education with an emphasis on business and finance
  • Availability to work from 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM PST
  • Strong understanding of commercial business structures
  • Familiarity with acceptable financing options and techniques
  • Sound knowledge of business financial statements, business cases, bank statement and cash flow analysis
  • Knowledge of commercial lending security documentation, including collection/work out techniques and remedies
  • Excellent communication skills and computer competency in word processing and spreadsheets
  • Excellent credit writing skills
  • Ability to identify and quantify subtle business risks and key drivers of risk
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and work well in a team environment
  • Ability to prioritize and plan workload, meet deadlines, and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated
