About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Facilitate patient flow and coordinate clinical activities and communication during the assigned shift
- Serve as a resource and leader for patients, staff, healthcare providers, administration, and other disciplines
- Ensure efficient, caring, and courteous patient care
- Support nursing-practice culture, process improvement, and optimization
- Maintain efficient clinical workflows, day-to-day staffing, clinic supply chain management, patient engagement, and team-member engagement
- Supervise care with high visibility to patients, families, and staff
- Share accountability for patient experience, team-member engagement, and continuous process-improvement goals
- Support recruitment, retention, coaching, training, evaluation, development, scheduling, and work delegation
- Lead workflow implementation, supply ordering, staffing-model changes, and staff problem-solving and decision-making development
- Maintain staff competency, quality-audit, and related records; advise on clinic fiscal needs
- Address patient and family concerns, safety hazards, incidents, and behavioral de-escalation
- Promote holistic, non-judgmental, relationship-based care and positive patient outcomes
- Serve as a clinical resource and promote education, evidence-based practice, certifications, and professional development
- Coordinate staff educational requirements and clinical competencies
- Manage clinic flow, prioritize activities, coordinate multidisciplinary care, and support direct admission/discharge
- Assess resources, anticipate staffing needs, and provide staffing support when needed, up to 80%
- Participate in or lead committees and performance-improvement projects
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and lead clinic throughput
- Adhere to and develop action plans for CMS, Joint Commission, CGCHAPS, and other regulatory standards
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree from a professional nursing program recognized and/or approved by the corresponding Board of Nursing
- Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible compact state
- Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience with at least one year as an RN
- Clinical experience can include CMA, LPN, athletic trainer, or other technical clinical positions
- Charge Nurse or supervisory experience preferred, or demonstrated leadership skills in previous roles
- Cultural responsiveness
- Experience in academic health care preferred
- Experience with a similar patient population in an ambulatory care setting or as applicable to area of practice preferred
- Ability to lift 50–100 lbs.
- Ability to work with potentially hazardous and infectious substances
- Prolonged standing and sitting; frequent bending; walking; climbing; overhead, extensive, and repetitive reaching; repetitive motion
- Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, clear speech, legible writing, reading, and logical/critical thinking
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy environment; handle multiple priorities and frequent/intense customer interactions; adapt to frequent change
