About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the engineering team responsible for Vercel for Platforms
- Build and grow a high-performing engineering team through hiring, coaching, mentorship, and career development
- Foster ownership, collaboration, and high engineering standards
- Partner with Product, Design, and engineering teams to define roadmap priorities and execute product goals
- Occasionally review and contribute code to stay close to the technology and unblock the team
- Drive operational excellence through engineering processes, incident management, and continuous improvement
- Balance short-term product delivery with long-term technical quality and platform scalability
- Shape Vercel for Platforms, which enables companies to build and run customer applications with deployment infrastructure, custom domains, tenant isolation, and developer tooling
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years building and operating large-scale platforms or multi-tenant systems
- 5+ years managing engineers
- Strong technical foundation, including system design review, data model challenges, and infrastructure tradeoff evaluation
- Proven ability to translate business goals into technical strategy and drive cross-org alignment
- Track record establishing trust, psychological safety, and clear expectations; skilled at timely, candid feedback
- Strong facilitation skills in technical conflict: listening, synthesizing, deciding, and bringing the team along
- Clear communication skills for setting expectations, giving direct feedback, and building trust across teams
