About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Ship provider integrations end to end, including auth flows, token exchange, app registration, and configuration UI.
  • Support generic API-key and OAuth presets and bespoke integrations such as Snowflake Partner Connect, Slack manager apps, and Microsoft Entra.
  • Own and improve Connect infrastructure, including uptime, performance, secure storage of credentials and keys, and developer experience.
  • Propose and implement authentication and authorization protocols for the AI era with industry leaders inside and outside Vercel.
  • Build and harden event forwarding with inbound signature verification and project-scoped outbound identity.
  • Extend SDKs, consent-redirect flow, and framework adapters.
  • Reduce the cost of future integrations by making new providers primarily configuration rather than code.
  • Work directly with teams building on Connect and turn their feedback into platform improvements.
  • Own APIs, token infrastructure, authorization, SDKs, and related platform surfaces.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 6+ years building and operating production backend or full-stack systems, with a track record of owning a service or platform surface rather than a feature.
  • Deep, practical understanding of OAuth 2.0/2.1, OIDC, and JWTs, including authorization codes, PKCE, refresh semantics, audience and scope restriction, token exchange, and security implications.
  • Security expertise for integration code, including SSRF and DNS rebinding, confused-deputy and mix-up attacks, redirect-URI validation, webhook signature verification, and tenant isolation.
  • Strong TypeScript and comfort developing backend and frontend components.
  • Experience integrating with many third-party APIs, including undocumented behavior, non-compliant OAuth, and inconsistent errors.
  • Ability to work comfortably with ambiguity, ship incrementally against a large surface, and communicate clearly with teams building on the platform.
  • Experience leveraging agents and AI in the development workflow.
  • Bonus: experience building or operating an OAuth authorization server, identity provider, or multi-tenant integrations platform.
  • Bonus: experience with MCP, agent tool-calling, or delegated-access and consent patterns.
  • Bonus: prior work on integration marketplaces, partner engineering, or webhook infrastructure at scale.
  • Bonus: open source contributions in auth, Next.js, or agent tooling ecosystems.
