About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own the vision, roadmap, and execution for a broad functional area
Set the technical direction and priorities for other team members
Design and develop capabilities leveraging cloud-native open source components such as Kubernetes, Backstage, ArgoCD, and Terraform
Scope tasks and set priorities for team members contributing to objectives
Drive execution through high-quality implementation and establish best practices in code health and production, including monitoring, frequent releases, and reliable CI
Collaborate with the engineering team on system architecture and integrations
Build and improve a cloud-native developer platform supporting the end-to-end software development lifecycle for over 600 engineers

Requirements

What you’ll need

BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience in software engineering
8+ years experience developing and maintaining reliable, scalable, and secure products and services in Go, Python, C++, or similar programming languages
Prior experience with cloud technologies: Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, Azure, or other cloud providers
Experience with GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Backstage, or related tools
Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and system design
Strong analytical and debugging skills
Strong communication skills for deriving requirements, articulating problem scope, and documenting system designs
Preferred: Deep knowledge of Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes
Preferred: Experience with microservices, software delivery platforms, DevSecOps, continuous integration, and release management processes
Preferred: 2+ years experience working in a centralized developer platform team
Preferred: Passion for developer experience with high empathy for users
