About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide operational leadership and technical direction for the design, engineering, and project management of physical telecommunications infrastructure across New England
  • Lead a multi-tiered team of engineers and project managers
  • Drive expansion and modernization of aerial, underground, and buried fiber optic network infrastructure supporting Core, Fios, Fixed Wireless, and next-generation technologies
  • Oversee design of optical distribution networks, Fiber-to-the-Cell Site circuits, HBW/LBW circuits, and underground and aerial route analysis
  • Direct end-to-end design initiation and project management for large-scale fiber optic infrastructure and transport asset deployments
  • Collaborate with Sourcing, External Suppliers, Construction Leadership, Wireless teams, construction operations, municipalities, and cross-functional partners
  • Oversee municipal right-of-way permits, DOT clearances, environmental approvals, and joint-use pole attachment agreements
  • Manage annual CapEx and OpEx budgets and material oversight
  • Anticipate technical challenges and establish contingency plans to maintain schedules
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate the engineering organization; foster career pathways and continuous learning
  • Champion technology and AI-driven automation workflows to streamline design cycles and remove operational redundancies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience
  • Eight or more years of relevant experience, demonstrated through work and/or military experience or specialized training
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Availability for on-call/emergency response duties as needed
  • Experience in outside plant/inside plant engineering, construction, and project management
  • Six or more years of experience leading teams
  • Experience in next-generation transmission technologies and outside plant construction and municipal permitting practices
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with unionized workforces and field construction operations
  • A degree in Engineering or Business Management is preferred
  • Strong management and leadership skills
