About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Commission new cell sites end-to-end, including fiber circuit testing, router upgrades, vDU server build-out, RMU installation, alarm verification, network integration, call testing, and 911 testing
  • Place commissioned sites into service with complete and accurate documentation
  • Execute circuit upgrades, including equipment swap-out, testing, validation, cutover, and activation documentation
  • Support small cell deployments and temporary infrastructure for special events
  • Coordinate with general contractors on field schedules and commissioning milestones
  • Troubleshoot 4G LTE and 5G NR network issues, radio outages, vDU server maintenance, and RAN performance faults
  • Use SSH to configure and troubleshoot Cisco 540 series (IOS), Ciena 5164 (SAOS), and Nokia platforms
  • Diagnose routing and connectivity issues involving BGP, ISIS, VLANs, hub-and-spoke topologies, and IEN hub infrastructure
  • Perform high-level troubleshooting of HVAC, generators, and GPS systems, escalating issues when appropriate
  • Use Unified System Manager (Samsung USM) and other network management platforms to identify faults, manage alarms, and track resolution
  • Complete preventive maintenance at assigned sites
  • Generate, manage, and close trouble tickets across multiple systems
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Introduce AI-assisted workflows and other process improvements
  • Work in the field 80–85% of the time across cell sites, small cells, HUBs, and supporting infrastructure
  • Perform physical work including climbing, working at elevated areas, lifting up to approximately 65 pounds, and maneuvering in small spaces

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience
  • Three or more years of relevant experience, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including the OSI model, TCP/IP, VLANs, and routing protocols such as BGP and ISIS
  • Proficiency with Linux and command-line interfaces
  • Experience connecting via SSH to troubleshoot routers, switches, and servers
  • Ability to perform physical job requirements with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 75% of the time
  • Valid driver's license
  • Willingness to operate a company vehicle throughout the Greater Cleveland area and Northeast Ohio
  • CCNA, Network+, or equivalent industry certification is preferred
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco 540 series (IOS), Ciena 5164 (SAOS), or Nokia platforms is preferred
  • Understanding of RAN architecture, including 4G LTE and 5G NR vDU environments is preferred
  • Familiarity with hub-and-spoke topologies and IEN hub infrastructure is preferred
  • Familiarity with network and operations management platforms such as USM, CND, INAM, IOP, FUZE, NSP, or OneEMS is preferred
  • Comfort working outdoors at active cell sites in varying weather and physical conditions is preferred
  • Exposure to AI tools such as Claude or Gemini in a technical or professional setting is preferred
