About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and build REST APIs using Node.js against Postgres, including versioning, input schemas, caching, and hybrid non-production/production authentication models
  • Build widgets and Vue.js views that surface network inventory and operational metrics, including count dashboards, site status, and work-item boards
  • Configure and extend AI agents using MCP servers, tool bindings, and prompt design to assist network engineers with day-to-day operations
  • Model relational data for work-item tracking, project management, and CMDB-adjacent inventory
  • Own the full lifecycle from schema migration through API, widget, agent tool, pull request, and production deployment
  • Debug platform security policies, credential vaults, database pool exhaustion, and agent tool-call failures
  • Collaborate with network engineers to translate operational requests into shipped features
  • Ship multiple end-to-end features used weekly by network engineers
  • Reduce manual toil for at least one recurring operations workflow
  • Extend platform agent capabilities so engineers can get answers conversationally instead of navigating dashboards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of relevant work experience
  • One or more years of relevant work experience, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training
  • Experience in JavaScript/Node.js, including async patterns, REST handler design, and error handling
  • Experience with AI agents / LLM tool-use patterns, including MCP, function calling, and agent orchestration
  • Frontend fundamentals: Vue.js or React, HTML/CSS, browser networking, and state management for dashboards
  • Network engineering domain knowledge, including Cisco Nexus, Pica8, Arista, NAC, VXLAN, or data center refresh workflows
  • Strong SQL and relational modeling; Postgres preferred; comfortable writing migrations, joins, and parameterized queries
  • API design knowledge: input validation, versioning, idempotency, authentication, and rate limiting
  • Git workflow proficiency, including branching, PR hygiene, disciplined commits, and staged/unstaged distinctions
  • Debugging across boundaries, including platform errors and UI → API → DB → external system failures
  • Security-aware coding, including credential vaults, secrets handling, least privilege, and production versus non-production boundaries
  • Clear written communication and ability to turn fuzzy requests into scoped work items
  • Knowledge of project management systems and integrations
  • Prior work on internal developer platforms or low-code/API-gateway tooling
  • Experience with ServiceNow, CMDB, or IT asset management systems
