About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Utilize and adhere to defined workflows and processes to drive Incident Management and mitigation efforts
- Own, execute, and drive incidents to resolution
- Partner with Cyber Security stakeholders and coordinate remediation activities across Verizon and its lines of business
- Collect and document information supporting Incident Response activities, including artifacts, action items, timelines, and impacted elements
- Document cyber threat analysis and investigation results, including containment, recovery, and remediation efforts
- Leverage techniques and capabilities to support Cyber Incident Response and non-cyber activities
- Enhance and advance Advanced Cyber Defense capabilities
- Recommend solutions to optimize technical and process/procedure aspects of the end-to-end incident lifecycle
- Collaborate with Threat Intelligence, Threat Hunt, DFIR, and SOC teams on after-action reviews and post-incident evaluations
- Track post-incident recommendations and ensure timely resolution of identified gaps, risks, or weaknesses
- Produce and maintain detailed reports on lessons learned, trends, and strategic insights for leadership
- Train and mentor junior team members
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree or one or more years of relevant work experience
- Security operations and/or Incident Handling experience
- Ability to pass and/or obtain a security clearance
- Related certification such as A+, Network+, Security+, CISSP, GCIH, GCFA, GCFE, GNFA, or GREM
- Information Assurance or cyber experience in the telecommunications industry
- Experience working in a Security Operations Center (SOC) focused on Computer Network Defense (CND)
- Experience with dynamic and/or malware analysis
- Experience in Cyber Intelligence or related disciplines
- Experience with enterprise antivirus, EDR, IDS, Full Packet Capture, and host/network forensics tools
- Knowledge of networking, including the OSI Model, TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, and SMTP
- Knowledge of system administration and security architecture
- Experience executing Incident Response Frameworks and Handling Procedures
- Programming and scripting experience
- Experience with Regex
- Strong knowledge of Windows, Unix/Linux, and OSX operating systems
- Experience and knowledge of cyber risks and threats related to cyber attackers
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
- May occasionally require work on nights and weekends
