About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Monitor next-generation network elements
  • Perform surveillance and repair of Verizon infrastructure networks
  • Ensure high network availability and attainment of service levels
  • Provide tactical strategy and direction for outage and network-impacting events
  • Work with network teams and third-party telecommunications providers to determine the causes of network alarms
  • Participate in technical bridges to identify alarm origins, impacted equipment, and the appropriate department or third-party telco for ticket triage
  • Act as an escalation facilitator
  • Work with the Associate Director or Supervisor to determine root causes of outages and major network events
  • Provide continuous network management and support in a 24/7 operating environment

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of relevant work experience
  • One or more years of relevant work experience demonstrated through work and/or military experience or specialized training
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time
  • Experience in the telecommunications industry is preferred
  • Operations experience is preferred
  • Technical knowledge of network equipment and systems is preferred
  • Knowledge of data networking protocols including TCP/IP, OSI, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, BFD, SIP, and other LAN/WAN protocols is preferred
  • Knowledge of data transmission facilities such as 1G and 10G native Ethernet and Ethernet Backhaul is preferred
  • Knowledge of Ericsson 4G LTE and/or 5G network elements is preferred
  • Experience with Ciena and Cisco routers is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, business management, engineering, or a related discipline is preferred
