About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead the design and development of large-scale, distributed systems
Implement high-quality software solutions using Java and Spring Boot
Design, develop, and secure APIs using the Apigee API management platform
Use Kibana to monitor, analyze, and visualize application logs and performance metrics
Manage and collaborate on code using Git version control
Provide technical guidance and establish best practices, coding standards, and development processes
Implement build and deployment automation using CI/CD practices
Partner with enterprise architects, product managers, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into technical designs
Identify and address performance bottlenecks to optimize application speed and scalability
Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges
Mentor technical teams and develop robust applications for Verizon's Customer Experience Platform and FiOS Order management platform
Actively participate in the Agile development process

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience
Six or more years of relevant experience, demonstrated through work and/or military experience or specialized training
Experience with Java and the Spring Boot framework, including deep knowledge of its ecosystem
Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and the React framework and related tooling
Knowledge of software architecture principles, design patterns, microservices, and RESTful API design
Experience with software development focused on backend and frontend technologies
Experience designing and implementing complex, scalable, high-performance web applications and distributed systems
Knowledge of API gateways, security gateways, and modern authentication/authorization patterns
Experience mentoring technical teams
Experience working in an Agile development environment
Experience with CI/CD tools and practices, such as Jenkins
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, including Docker and Kubernetes
Experience with messaging/streaming platforms such as Kafka, SQS, Kinesis, or RabbitMQ
Experience with caching technologies such as Redis
Knowledge of web security principles and best practices
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
