About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop resolutions to complex problems using creativity and judgment
  • Analyze situations and data requiring in-depth evaluation of variable factors
  • Mentor team members on networking, application design, engineering, and automation
  • Act as the final escalation point for production service issues with application, operational, and triage teams
  • Lead performance meetings with the agency, planning, and maintenance engineering teams
  • Create detailed project plans and provide input on status calls across organizations
  • Complete projects independently within tight timelines without impacting critical services
  • Partner with departments and vendors to develop engineering and operations best practices
  • Provide day-to-day sustaining engineering support for the customer enterprise network
  • Design and implement LAN, WAN, intranet, extranet, SDN, NFV, and other data communications networks
  • Perform network modeling, analysis, and planning
  • Design network and computer security measures
  • Research and recommend network and data communications hardware and software
  • Support installation of new services and features, approved upgrades, changes, and scheduled maintenance under change management procedures
  • Support VoIP, SIP-based services, and PSTN voice integration
  • Validate network and application operations after network changes
  • Execute design-impacting network changes, including configuration review and approval
  • Execute fallback and contingency plans for network restoration and support disaster recovery drills
  • Monitor success indicators for design-impacting changes
  • Update network design documentation after implementation
  • Contribute to strategic and enterprise plans through enterprise-level, cross-functional work

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience
  • Six or more years of relevant experience, demonstrated through work and/or military experience or specialized training
  • Ability to ascertain a GSA Public Trust certificate and any other applicable security clearances required by the agency
  • Cisco Network Certifications or equivalent
  • Experience managing multiple medium to large projects simultaneously
  • Experience and knowledge in scripting and automation
  • Ability to lead and drive projects to completion and balance multiple work assignments
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to lead technical discussions with individuals in the industry with varying technical positions
  • Ability to work independently and in diverse teams
  • Experience working with the Federal government is preferred
  • Degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a Technology-related field is preferred
