About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct red team exercises emulating realistic threats against telecommunications-specific systems, including wireline and wireless network infrastructure
- Identify, exploit, and report vulnerabilities in critical telecommunications systems and infrastructure
- Deliver comprehensive technical reports and executive summaries covering findings, exploit paths, and remediation recommendations
- Collaborate with blue teams to develop detection and prevention strategies
- Track current attack techniques, tactics, and procedures relevant to telecommunications
- Improve Verizon’s security posture through collaboration with security and operations peers
- Simulate advanced persistent threats and execute red team engagements tailored to telecommunications environments
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience
- Six or more years of relevant experience, demonstrated through work and/or military experience or specialized training
- Strong understanding of 4G/5G protocols and interfaces, including GTP, Diameter, SS7, S1-MME, S1-U, S11, and HTTP/2 Service-Based Architecture
- Strong understanding of 4G/5G core network architecture and supporting systems
- Strong foundational knowledge of enterprise networking technologies and protocols, including routers, switches, VPN, load balancers, TCP/IP, IP, ASN, CIDR, and subnetting
- Strong Linux skills
- Strong coding and scripting skills in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar; ability to vet exploit code
- Knowledge of network architecture and cloud environments, including Kubernetes, OpenStack, and OpenShift
- Ability to think like an attacker and devise innovative attack scenarios targeting telco environments
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Certifications such as OSCP, OSCE, OSEP, GPEN, GXPN, or GWAPT are advantageous
- Familiarity with security challenges in Internet-scale networks, wireless core components, cloud, and edge computing
