About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Administer, maintain, and operate Verizon’s enterprise Public/Private Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Identity & Access Management (IAM) systems
- Lead operational execution and define end-to-end test plans for PKI vendor platform migration
- Serve as the primary technical contact for enterprise customers during application cutovers, front-end customization, and back-end integration
- Log, track, prioritize, and troubleshoot customer technical queries through ticketing platforms such as Jira
- Conduct root-cause analysis and deliver patches or hotfixes
- Facilitate software delivery and interoperability testing for PKI-enabled custom applications
- Maintain customer-facing SLAs and operational KPIs
- Replicate customer issues in test labs, validate bug fixes, and execute corrective actions
- Develop AI-driven tools, algorithms, and agents for diagnostics, query triage, log analysis, and certificate management
- Build automated solutions for PQC readiness and migration
- Administer and support RESTful APIs for certificate enrollment and infrastructure integration
- Maintain operational runbooks, systems engineering documentation, and customer integration guides
- Ensure Certificate Authorities, Registration Authorities, and Key Management systems remain operational
- Install, configure, maintain, and support enterprise HSMs
- Manage certificate issuance, discovery, renewal, revocation, and deployment across applications, APIs, AWS environments, servers, and network devices
- Perform system patching, OS maintenance, capacity planning, and vulnerability remediation
- Participate in an on-call rotation providing tier-3 support, incident triage, and escalation resolution
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience
- Six or more years of relevant experience, demonstrated through work and/or military experience or specialized training
- Experience developing AI tools, scripts, or agents using Python AI/ML libraries, LLM APIs, or automated diagnostic agents
- Experience with RESTful API integration, management, and troubleshooting
- Willingness to travel up to 25% or less of the time
- Strong customer-facing technical support and troubleshooting experience
- Experience with PKI protocols and standards including X.509, PKCS, OCSP, TLS/SSL, S/MIME, IPsec, and LDAP
- Production Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration experience
- Proficiency in Python, Shell/Bash, Java, or PHP scripting
- Ability to participate in scheduled on-call coverage, including evenings/weekends during assigned rotation
- Familiarity or experience with Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) standards, algorithms, and transition strategies
- Systems Engineering experience, including infrastructure design, reliability, capacity planning, or system architecture
- Experience with AWS security and infrastructure platforms, including Cloud HSMs, AWS Private CA, KMS, IAM, or EC2
- Familiarity with Jira, ServiceNow, or Confluence
- Knowledge of PKI platform engines and certificate management platforms such as EJBCA, Keyfactor, DigiCert, RSA, OpenXPKI, or Microsoft CA
- Experience deploying, managing, and supporting HSMs such as Entrust (nShield), Thales/Luna, or Utimaco
- Experience with Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus
- Experience with Apache, Tomcat, Nginx, and Windows Server administration
- Working knowledge of Oracle, SQL, or PostgreSQL
- Relevant certifications such as RHCSA, AWS Certified Security / SysOps, CISSP, CISA, or ITIL v3/v4
