About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Administer, maintain, and operate Verizon’s enterprise Public/Private Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Identity & Access Management (IAM) systems
  • Serve as a primary operational subject matter expert and customer-facing technical contact
  • Lead operational execution and define end-to-end test plans for PKI vendor platform migration
  • Guide enterprise customers through application cutovers, front-end customization, and back-end integration
  • Log, track, prioritize, and troubleshoot customer technical queries through ticketing platforms such as Jira
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and deliver patches or hotfixes
  • Facilitate software delivery and interoperability testing for PKI-enabled custom applications
  • Maintain customer-facing SLAs and operational KPIs
  • Replicate customer issues in test lab environments to validate bug fixes
  • Develop AI-driven tools, algorithms, and agents for diagnostic workflows, query triage, log analysis, and certificate management
  • Build and deploy solutions for Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) readiness and migration
  • Administer and support RESTful APIs for automated certificate enrollment and infrastructure integration
  • Maintain operational runbooks, systems engineering documentation, and customer integration guides
  • Ensure PKI environments, Certificate Authorities, Registration Authorities, and Key Management systems remain functional
  • Install, configure, maintain, and support enterprise Hardware Security Modules
  • Manage certificate issuance, discovery, renewal, revocation, and deployment across applications, APIs, AWS, servers, and network devices
  • Perform system patching, OS maintenance, capacity planning, and vulnerability remediation
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for tier-3 support, incident triage, and escalation resolution

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience
  • Six or more years of relevant experience, demonstrated through work and/or military experience or specialized training
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% or less of the time
  • Strong customer-facing technical support and troubleshooting experience
  • Experience with PKI protocols and standards including X.509, PKCS, OCSP, TLS/SSL, S/MIME, IPsec, and LDAP
  • Production Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration experience
  • Experience developing AI tools, scripts, or agents for PKI or security operations
  • RESTful API integration, management, and troubleshooting experience
  • Proficiency with Python, Shell/Bash, Java, or PHP scripting
  • Ability to participate in scheduled on-call coverage, including evenings/weekends during assigned rotations
  • Familiarity or experience with Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) standards, algorithms, and transition strategies
  • Systems Engineering experience or familiarity
  • Experience with AWS security and infrastructure platforms
  • Familiarity with Jira, ServiceNow, or Confluence
  • Knowledge of PKI platform engines and certificate management platforms such as EJBCA, Keyfactor, DigiCert, RSA, OpenXPKI, or Microsoft CA
  • Experience deploying, managing, and supporting HSMs such as Entrust (nShield), Thales/Luna, or Utimaco
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus
  • Experience with Apache, Tomcat, Nginx, and Windows Server administration
  • Working knowledge of Oracle, SQL, or PostgreSQL
  • Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field is an additional qualification
  • Relevant certifications such as RHCSA, AWS Certified Security / SysOps, CISSP, CISA, or ITIL v3/v4 are additional qualifications
