About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the organization’s overall cybersecurity strategy and address the challenges of securing large-scale telecommunications systems
  • Execute penetration tests and red team projects to identify vulnerabilities in wireline/wireless network infrastructure and supporting applications
  • Identify, exploit, and report vulnerabilities in critical telecommunications systems and infrastructure
  • Execute penetration tests and red team campaigns targeting applications, devices, and platforms deployed to the Verizon network
  • Deliver comprehensive technical reports with findings, supporting artifacts, and remediation recommendations
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to scope projects appropriately
  • Share information and mentor colleagues
  • Build or customize tools and scripts for consistent and efficient testing
  • Monitor attack techniques, tactics, and procedures relevant to the telecommunications industry
  • Provide insights to improve the organization’s security posture through collaboration with security and operations peers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or three or more years of relevant work experience in network security or a related field
  • Foundational knowledge of security testing processes or adversarial techniques
  • Strong Linux skills
  • Experience with penetration testing tools such as Burp Suite, Cobalt Strike, Nmap, and Metasploit
  • Network or cybersecurity-related professional certifications are advantageous
  • Familiarity with security challenges in large enterprise-scale networks, wireless core components, cloud, and edge computing
  • Expertise in network engineering, routing, switching, BGP, stateful or stateless firewalling, load balancing, or proxies
  • Expertise in telecommunications systems and protocols, including SIP, SS7/Diameter, and TR-69
  • Expertise in 4G/5G core network architecture and supporting systems
  • Coding and scripting skills, including Python, Bash, or PowerShell
  • Deep knowledge of network architecture and cloud environments, such as Kubernetes, OpenStack, and OpenShift
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
