About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Establish strategy for client teams on operational and financial bases
Partner with product organization, pricing development, sales operations, network, and technology services to develop standard costs
Review standard pricing costing across Verizon Business Group to determine financial impact and strategic alignment
Develop business cases for new product development, enhancements, geographic expansions, and lifecycle support
Perform complex financial analyses to determine financial viability, risks, and rewards
Prepare and review financial summaries with executive leadership and make business recommendations
Drive rationalization, simplification, consistency, and governance in the Standard Costing Process
Create and test business rules for standard cost models
Perform sensitivity analyses and facilitate management approval
Develop and maintain cost assignment methodologies for the lowest levels of the Global Product Hierarchy
Advise on risks and opportunities for managing costs and growing revenue and profitability
Recommend and execute action plans for planning and business performance issues
Identify cost and effect patterns not captured in existing reporting
Conduct monthly performance reviews of business-unit initiatives and identify improvement opportunities
Provide decision support and guidance; lead ad hoc presentations and executive reviews
Present and communicate to all levels of the business

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's Degree or four or more years of work experience
Six or more years of relevant work experience required, demonstrated through work and/or military experience or specialized training
Six or more years of relevant financial experience
Experience communicating and presenting to senior leadership
Business case development and analysis experience
Experience with Activity Based Costing methodologies and industry standard tools
Experience with customer-specific profitability analysis
Ability to understand and model financial impacts associated with payment term or methodology changes
Thorough knowledge of Verizon Business Group’s product portfolio and business units
Bachelor’s Degree and/or Master’s in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Economics
Professional certification such as CPA or CMA
Strategic and analytical capability, including analyzing large amounts of data
Logical and technical database skills to build and maintain complex cost models; SQL or other data-manipulation languages beneficial
Strategic skills and ability to structure business cases around a high-level strategic vision
Knowledge of FASB and SEC requirements, GAAP, tax reporting and accounting practices, and IFRS
Advanced understanding of report query and design
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
Experience in continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis, and project management
Familiarity with Essbase, Smart View, Hyperion Planning, and Hyperion Strategic Finance
